# Standard Job Description Format

> The required structure for every role description at IBBE.

# SECTION 2: STANDARD JOB DESCRIPTION FORMAT

Every role description at IBBE must contain the following sections in this order.

### Step 1: Role Title

Official name of the position.

* **Example**: Director of Commerce, Subject Partner, Accounts, Assistant Group Partner, People and Culture

### Step 2: Division

The department the role belongs to.

* **Example**: Educator Affairs Division, People and Culture Division, Media Representation Unit

### Step 3: Important Information

This section clarifies the reporting structure and scope.

* **Reports To**: Direct reporting authority.
* **Oversees**: Teams or roles managed by this position.
* **Scope**: Brief statement describing the operational coverage of the role.
* **Example**: *Scope: Academic leadership and performance ownership across Commerce subjects.*

### Step 4: Short Summary

A concise overview of the role.

* **Guidelines**: Length should be between two and three sentences. Focus on purpose and impact. Do not describe tasks here.
* **Example Structure**: Sentence 1 explains the purpose. Sentence 2 explains the primary outcome. Sentence 3 may describe the scope.

### Step 5: Full Overview

This section provides a deeper explanation of the role.

* **Guidelines**: Length should be three to five paragraphs. Explain how the role functions within the division. Describe interactions with other leadership levels. Highlight strategic importance. Avoid repeating the short summary.

### Step 6: Key Responsibilities

This section defines what the role does. Responsibilities must be grouped under clear headings.

* **Common Categories**: Academic Leadership, Team Management, Operational Coordination, Strategic Development, Performance Monitoring, Communication Management, Culture and Engagement.
* **Guidelines**: Each category should include three to five bullet points. Each bullet point should begin with a clear action.
* **Example**: *Lead and mentor subject teams. Monitor performance metrics across subjects.*

### Step 7: Minimum Qualifications

Baseline eligibility for the role.

* **Guidelines**: Focus on capabilities rather than only academic credentials. Five to six bullet points are recommended.
* **Themes**: Communication ability, Leadership capacity, Organizational skills, Decision making ability, Domain familiarity.

### Step 8: Preferred Qualifications

Attributes that strengthen candidacy but are not required.

* **Guidelines**: Include experience or exposure that enhances effectiveness. Four to five bullet points are sufficient.
* **Examples**: Experience managing teams, designing programs/frameworks, familiarity with institutional operations.
